Terms and Conditions

These terms apply when you order a personalised Advent book from Pages to Treasure. Please read them before you pay, especially the box below: it points out the terms that limit our responsibility or ask you to accept a risk.

Before you order, please note

  • Your book starts as soon as your payment is confirmed. After that, a cancellation is refunded minus the costs we’ve already incurred, and once your book has been sent for printing there are no refunds for a change of mind, because it’s made only for your family (section 9).
  • Check everything before you pay. Names, ages and other details are used exactly as you give them, and your answers, photos and characters are locked once you go to payment (section 4).
  • The characters are illustrations, not portraits. You approve them before you pay, and a difference in likeness or style isn’t a defect (section 8).
  • You confirm you have everyone’s permission for the photos and details you share, including a parent’s or guardian’s for every child, and you’re responsible if you don’t (section 7).
  • Partner-school delivery: anyone who shows your order reference can collect your parcel from the school office, so keep your reference private (section 6).
  • Our responsibility is limited to the amount you paid, where the law allows (section 15).
  • Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.

1. About us and these terms

Pages to Treasure is a trading name of ZANETTE AI (PTY) LTD, a private company registered in South Africa (registration number 2026/678082/07). In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean ZANETTE AI (PTY) LTD trading as Pages to Treasure, and “you” means the person who places the order. Our full company details are in section 20.

These terms, our Refunds and Cancellations policy and our Privacy Policy apply to every order placed on order.pagestotreasure.co.za. The Refunds and Cancellations policy forms part of these terms. You accept them by ticking the box at checkout and paying.

2. Who can order

  • You must be 18 or older and able to enter into a contract.
  • We deliver only within South Africa.
  • You can order for your own family, or for another family as a gift, for example as a grandparent. For every child in the book, you must be their parent or legal guardian, or have their parent’s or guardian’s permission (section 7).
  • If you’d like to order for a school, business or group, please email us first at info@pagestotreasure.co.za.

3. What we make

A Pages to Treasure book is a personalised, illustrated, hardcover Christmas Advent book with 24 stories, one for each day from 1 to 24 December. Your family members (and pets, where offered) are the characters, illustrated from the photos you upload. Each story has a picture page facing a text page.

  • We create the stories and pictures with the help of AI tools, from your answers and photos, and a person on our team checks every book before it’s printed (section 8).
  • Your book is printed and bound by our printing partner in South Africa.
  • You receive the printed book only. We don’t supply a PDF or any other digital copy. When your book is ready for its final check, we email you a first look at the front cover.
  • Each order is for one printed copy of one family’s book.

4. How ordering works

  1. Your details. You give us your name, email address and mobile number, and confirm your email address with a code we send you.
  2. Your family. You answer our questionnaire about the people in your book and upload photos of each person. Before you upload photos, we ask you for the permissions in section 7.
  3. Your characters. We create an illustrated character for each person. Each person gets a first drawing and one redraw: two drawings in all. If you’re still not happy, email us and we’ll see whether we can allow another try. You see and approve every character before you pay, and you never have to order.
  4. Check and pay. You choose delivery and see a summary of your order with the full price, including delivery, before you pay. Please check it carefully: once you go to payment, your answers, photos and characters are locked. You pay online through Paystack.
  5. We make your book. Your book starts as soon as Paystack confirms your payment. We write and illustrate it, and a person on our team checks every page before it’s printed.
  6. Printing and delivery. We print your book and deliver it as described in section 6, and we email you along the way.

Your order is confirmed when Paystack confirms your payment to us, and we email you your order reference. If you leave the payment page without paying, nothing is charged and nothing is made.

  • Prices are in South African rand. We are not registered for VAT, so we don't charge VAT.
  • The total you pay, including delivery, is shown before you pay. We add no other fees.
  • We may change our prices, but a change never affects an order you’ve already paid for.
  • If a price on our site is obviously wrong, we’ll tell you, and you can choose to pay the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
  • You pay on Paystack’s secure payment page, using the payment methods Paystack offers there. We never see or store your card details.
  • We start your book only once Paystack has confirmed your payment to us.

6. Delivery and Christmas dates

Christmas 2026 dates

  • Orders open on 5 October 2026. Invited early customers can order from 2 October 2026.
  • The last day to order is Sunday 18 October 2026.
  • If you order by then and choose locker or door delivery, we’ll deliver your book before 1 December 2026.
  • For delivery to a partner school, you see the school’s own last day to order and the date your book will be ready at the school office when you choose the school.
  • If we ever accept an order after these dates, we’ll show you its delivery date before you pay.
  • Every book is made to order for Christmas, so by ordering you agree to these delivery dates, even where they’re more than 30 days after your order.

How we deliver

  • Locker: The Courier Guy delivers to the locker you choose. Please collect your parcel within the time the courier gives you. If an uncollected parcel comes back to us, we’ll send it again once you’ve paid the delivery fee again.
  • Your door: The Courier Guy delivers to the address you give us. Door delivery isn’t available for farms or smallholdings.
  • Partner school: if your child’s school is a partner school, delivery to the school office is free. Your book comes in a sealed parcel labelled only with your name and order reference. Anyone who shows your order reference can collect your parcel for you, so keep your reference private and share it only with people you trust. We treat a parcel handed over against your order reference as collected by you. If a school stops taking part after you’ve ordered, we deliver your book to your door (or a locker) at no extra cost, and we’ll email you for the address.

We email you when your book is on its way, with tracking details for courier deliveries. We’re responsible for your book until it’s delivered to your address or locker, or collected from the school office.

If we’re late

If we don’t deliver by the date we agreed with you, you may cancel your order by giving us seven days’ written notice (an email is fine), and we’ll refund you in full. If we find we can’t make or deliver your book at all, we’ll tell you straight away and refund you in full within 30 days.

7. Your photos, details and permissions

Please read this section carefully. When you give us photos and details, you confirm that:

  • you took the photos, or you have permission to use them;
  • every adult in your photos and details has agreed to be in your book and to be drawn as a character;
  • for every child in your book, you’re their parent or legal guardian, or you have their parent’s or guardian’s permission. Before you upload photos, we ask you to confirm this, and to agree to your information being processed outside South Africa (see our Privacy Policy). You can’t upload photos without doing both;
  • your details are accurate: names, spellings, ages, and what the children call each adult are used exactly as you give them;
  • your photos and requests are appropriate: no photos of people who haven’t agreed, no celebrities or public figures, no characters, logos or artwork that belong to someone else, and nothing unlawful, hurtful, sexual, violent or hateful.

If someone makes a claim against us because you shared their photos or details without their permission, you’re responsible for that claim, to the extent the law allows.

If we reasonably believe that photos or details were shared without the necessary permission, or that they break this section, we may decline or cancel your order (section 10).

8. AI and your characters

We use AI tools to help write the stories and create the illustrations, and a real person checks every page before it’s printed.

  • Your characters are illustrations inspired by your photos, not portraits or exact likenesses. Faces, hair, clothing and proportions will differ from real life, and may vary a little from picture to picture.
  • You see every character before you pay and approve them as they are. When you approve your characters, we ask you to confirm that you understand this.
  • The stories are fiction: a Christmas adventure with story-only characters and creatures, woven around the family details you give us.
  • AI can produce small imperfections, such as an odd detail in a background. The check before printing looks for clear errors, and we fix those we find. Differences of artistic style or taste aren’t defects.
  • We may decline to create anything our AI services don’t allow, or that we consider unsuitable for a children’s book.

9. Cancelling and refunds

Our Refunds and Cancellations policy explains this in full and forms part of these terms. In short:

  • Before you pay: you can stop at any time, including after seeing your characters, and you pay nothing.
  • After you pay, before your book starts: a full refund. Your book starts as soon as Paystack confirms your payment, so in practice this applies only if your book hasn’t been able to start yet.
  • After your book has started, until it’s sent for printing: a refund of what you paid, minus the costs we’ve already incurred for your book.
  • After your book has been sent for printing: no refund for a change of mind, because it’s a personalised product made only for your family.
  • Printing defects, damage in transit and our mistakes: a free reprint or a full refund, your choice (section 11).

Cooling-off. The seven-day cooling-off period in the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act doesn’t apply to goods that are made to the consumer’s specifications or are clearly personalised (section 42(2) of that Act), and every Pages to Treasure book is both. If your order resulted from direct marketing by us (for example, if we contacted you directly to sell you a book), the Consumer Protection Act gives you the right to cancel within five business days of the order or of delivery, whichever is later. Where that right applies, we honour it.

Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.

10. When we may decline or cancel an order

We may decline or cancel an order if:

  • we reasonably believe photos or details were shared without the necessary permission, or they break section 7;
  • we can’t make a book of acceptable quality from the photos or details we have;
  • our courier can’t deliver to your address and you don’t choose another option; or
  • something outside our control stops us making or delivering your book (section 16).

If we cancel for a reason that isn’t your fault, we refund you in full. If we cancel because photos or details were shared without permission or break section 7, we refund what you paid minus the costs we’ve already incurred, as for a cancellation by you.

11. If something is wrong with your book

If your book arrives with a printing or binding defect, is damaged in transit, or has a mistake that we made (for example, a name spelled differently from how you gave it to us), we’ll put it right at no cost to you: a free reprint or a full refund, your choice. Our Refunds and Cancellations policy explains how to claim.

This is in addition to your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, including your right to return a defective book within six months of delivery for a repair, a replacement or a refund. A character’s likeness, the artistic style, and mistakes in the details you gave us aren’t defects (section 8).

12. Who owns what

  • Your photos and details stay yours. You allow us to use them only to make, check, print and deliver your book, to help you with your order, and as our Privacy Policy explains.
  • We never use your photos, characters or book in our marketing or on social media unless you give us separate, specific permission. For a child, that permission must come from their parent or guardian.
  • We (and the people we license from) own the rights in the stories, illustrations, characters’ artwork, layout and design of your book, and in our website and brand.
  • Once your order is paid, you may keep, read, share and give away your printed book, and share photos or short videos of it with family and friends and on your personal social media. You may not sell copies, reproduce the book, or use its illustrations commercially without our written permission.

13. Emails from us

We email you about your order: codes to confirm your email address, your payment confirmation, when your book has been created (with a first look at the front cover), when it’s printing, and when it’s on its way, delivered or ready for collection. These emails are part of the service.

We send news and offers only if you’ve separately agreed to receive them, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

14. Your privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, which service providers we use (including AI services outside South Africa), how long we keep information, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act.

15. Limits on our responsibility

Please read this section carefully: it limits our responsibility to you.

  • Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our responsibility where the law doesn’t allow it, including for loss caused by our gross negligence. Nothing limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act (including your right to safe, good-quality goods) or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
  • Otherwise, our total responsibility to you for an order is limited to the amount you paid for it, including delivery.
  • We’re not responsible for loss we couldn’t reasonably have foreseen when you ordered, for indirect loss, or for problems caused by inaccurate information, photos or instructions that you gave us.

16. Events outside our control

We’re not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as power or internet outages, load-shedding, failures at our technology, AI, printing or courier partners, strikes, floods, fire or government action. We’ll tell you as soon as we can. If we can’t deliver within a reasonable time, you may cancel, and we’ll refund you in full for anything we haven’t delivered.

17. Questions, complaints and disputes

  • Talk to us first. Email info@pagestotreasure.co.za or call 087 265 5898. We’ll try to resolve any complaint fairly and quickly.
  • If you’re not satisfied, or we haven’t resolved your complaint within 15 business days, you can refer it to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO): 0860 000 272, info@cgso.org.za, www.cgso.org.za.
  • You can also complain to the National Consumer Commission (NCC): 012 065 1940, enquiries@thencc.org.za, thencc.org.za. It takes complaints online at eservice.thencc.org.za.
  • For privacy complaints, see our Privacy Policy.
  • You may also approach a court with jurisdiction.

18. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and South African courts have jurisdiction.

19. Your records, changes and general terms

  • Your record of the order. We email you your order reference, and you can ask us for a copy of your full order record at any time. These terms are always available at pagestotreasure.co.za/terms, where you can save or print them. The version that applies to your order is the one shown when you paid: if you need a copy of it, email us.
  • Changes. We may update these terms. A change never affects an order you’ve already paid for.
  • If any part of these terms is found to be invalid, the rest still applies.
  • If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • These terms, the Refunds and Cancellations policy and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us for your order.
  • Notices. We send notices to the email address on your order. You can send notices to info@pagestotreasure.co.za. Legal documents must be served at our address for service of legal documents (section 20).
